I became a childminder in 2010 and I thoroughly enjoy my role in Childcare. I have lived in Sedgefield for 14 years now and love the village life. I have a partner Ian and a son Charlie who attends Hardwick Primary School. I have cared for children from the ages of 1 year until 14 years old, some of the children have been with me since I first qualified as a Childminder. We live in a large three bed roomed semi-detached house, which is clean, tidy and very well looked after with plenty of space, including a wide range of toys both in doors and out with activities for children of all ages.

Qualifications

As well as the statutory requirements, I am a member of the Durham Child Minding Network. MK recent ofsted grade-I was awarded a Good with outstanding areas for my 'safeguarding, interaction, caring and well being for my children.

Vacancies

I am able to look after children from 6 months old and into secondary school age. I will also try to offer flexibility within the hours I work, if parents have need to alter arrangements for any reason, dependent on my child ratios.

School Runs

I do school runs to Hardwick School and Nursery. I can also take and collect children from local playgroups.

Activities

We have a dedicated play room for all the children with a TV, DVD recorder, and all the toys, we also have a large lounge for the children to relax and chill out in i.e. watch children Sky TV or a DVD, the Wii, PlayStation 3, DS's, read a book or do their homework if they choose. I have a wide back garden with a high secured fence and a locked gate at all times. There is a slide, swing, a sand/water pit, football/goal, tractor car, bats and balls, swing ball, pop up tent/tube and more. At the front of my house there is a large spacious green area directly in front of my garden, where the older children with written permission from their parents can play sports i.e. football cricket rounders tennis bikes and scooters (all provided). I promote a safe, warm, happy, healthy environment in and outside of my home for all the children.

Elaine is kind, fun and the most loving, caring lady. My little boy loves her and idolises Charlie her son. I can not recommend Elaine highly enough, every working parent needs an Elaine, she is truly amazing.
My six year old son loves and thoroughly enjoys the home to home comforts and friendly caring atmosphere that Elaine offers. I am delighted that my son is happy, safe and well cared for and has well established boundaries of what he can and can't do whilst in Elaine's care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Childminders accept Childcare vouchers? Yes we do. Fees are paid in advance from a weekly, monthly or termly basis, cash, cheque or directly into bank accounts also accepted.
What sort of snacks and meals can you provide? After school snacks may include sandwiches, selection of fruit, yoghurt's, crumpets, bagels, pizza, toast, raw vegetables, wraps and many more. For children staying after 5pm, we can offer the option of a small meal, beans on toast, scrambled egg, pizza and a price of cake, yoghurt's, fruit etc.
