MELISSA HILL

I have been a registered childminder since 2004, achieving Ofsted “Outstanding” status in 2015. I am very dedicated to my role as a professional child carer. The well being and safety of the children in my care, is a high priority. I have very close bonds with all my children, some of whom have been coming to me for many years. The children are offered love, consistency, security, attention, and plenty of opportunities to play, learn and be themselves. I am married with two teenage daughters and have lived in Sedgefield for 11 years. Prior to being a childminder I was a registered nurse with 13 years experience.

Detailed Information

Qualifications

As well as statutory training, I hold qualifications in Childcare at Diploma level and an NVQ level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development. I am a quality assured member of the Durham Childminding Network. I am also Registered General Nurse trained.

Vacancies

I am able to look after children from babies up to secondary school age. I am eligible to offer the free 15 hours to 2 year olds, dependent on parents meeting the criteria. I look after children during term time and school holidays. I will also offer some flexibility if parents need to change their hours for any reason, depending upon my child ratios.

School Runs

I do school runs to Hardwick School and Nursery, as well as some days to Sedgefield Primary School. I also see children safely onto the school bus to St William's, taking them to and collecting them from the bus stop in the centre of Sedgefield. I can also take children to local playgroups.

Activities

I have a designated play room where children can freely access a large range of toys and activities. Children can also choose to relax in my lounge, where they can also watch the TV, play on the Wii, or play with a selection of games. I also have a large garden at the rear where they can run around, play, have picnics and enjoy the freedom of being outside. I also grow fruit and vegetables and children are given the opportunity to help plant seeds, watch them grow, and then help pick them when they have grown. As well as the wide range of toys, I do enjoy baking with the children and they enjoy making things they can eat and then take home to share with family. Children enjoy playing with other children of varying ages, building friendships and doing things that they enjoy and make them happy.
